        TO ADORE OUR LORD!

The Franciscan Handmaids of the Immaculate seek daily to draw closer to Our Lord.  Adoration of the Most Holy Sacrament is fundamental to Our spiritual life as we seek to conform our hearts unto His.  Additionally, praying the Liturgy of the Hours, the rosary, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Sorrows, we place ourselves in the Immaculate Heart of Mary, asking Her to bring us closer to Her Son.

HELL  IS  HOTTER!   REPENT AND RETURN TO GOD!  LIFE IS SHORT, ETERNITY FOREVER.
Sin is  turning away from God .  By mortal sin we turn away from God completely and we oppose Him.  When we are in a state of grace, we are in the friendship of God.  If we die opposed to God, we will live our eternity away from Him, in hell.   Truly, there is no greater horror than final impenitence, which causes that eternal chasm.  It is the “great chaos” Abraham spoke to Dives, who was “buried in hell” — “And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.'” (Luke 16:26)."
Sister Faustina's Vision of Hell
"I, Sister Faustina Kowalska, by the order of God, have visited the Abysses of Hell so that I might tell souls about it and testify to its existence...the devils were full of hatred for me, but they had to obey me at the command of God, What I have written is but a pale shadow of the things I saw. But I noticed one thing: That most of the souls there are those who disbelieved that there is a hell." (Diary 741)
“Today, I was led by an angel to the Chasms of Hell. It is a place of great torture; how awesomely large and extensive it is! The kinds of tortures I saw:
I would have died
There are caverns and pits of torture where one form of agony differs from another. I would have died at the very sight of these tortures if the omnipotence of God had not supported me.
No One Can Say There is No Hell
Let the sinner know that he will be tortured throughout all eternity, in those senses which he made use of to sin. I am writing this at the command of God, so that no soul may find an excuse by saying there is no hell, or that nobody has ever been there, and so no one can say what it is like...how terribly souls suffer there! Consequently, I pray even more fervently for the conversion of sinners. I incessantly plead God's mercy upon them. O My Jesus, I would rather be in agony until the end of the world, amidst the greatest sufferings, than offend you by the least sin." (Diary 741)
On July 13, 1917, the three children of Fatima had a vision of hell:

After they saw the vision, terrified and as if to plead for succor, we looked up at Our Lady, who said to us, so kindly and so sadly: “You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace."
In the end, we will go to either Heaven or  Hell.
Our lives here on earth are but a pilgrimage to our everlasting destination -  we were created to be forever united with God, who is LOVE,  in heaven!  But, if we choose to oppose God, we will be forever separated from Him in hell.
LET US LIVE AS CHILDREN OF THE LIGHT, CLOSE TO OUR SAVIOR, UNDER THE PROTECTIVE MANTLE OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN.  SHE WILL KEEP US SAFE FROM THE EVIL ONE.   LET US PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER.

THE HILLS ARE ALIVE!      LET US RETREAT !!

6/25/2018

With the sound of music!  Getting ready to make our annual retreat.  We usually go to the Benedictine Still River Abbey... We'll see what this year brings.
How to make a good retreat:
SILENCE:   We need to hear what the Lord is saying to us.  Abide in the deep peace of Christ, love and adore Him ~ and listen.
PRAYER:
Holy Mass - daily receive Holy Communion.  We need to be intimately close to Him and there is no closer way on earth than to receive Him into our hearts, into our souls.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament - spend time before the Lord.  Adoration is an act of faith ~ Faith in The Real Presence of Christ is the Pearl of Great Price.

CONFESSION: - Retreats are about growing closer to the Lord, examining where we could improve, where we have failed.  Pray that the Holy Spirit will assist you in your confession.  Pray that your examination of conscience will lead you to true repentance and total trust in Divine Mercy.
SPIRITUAL READING:  Scripture and other holy books.  The beauty and peace of the early morning are an ideal time to enter into the immense riches found in the Holy Bible.
BLESSED MOTHER:  grow closer to the Blessed Mother.  Learn from the apostles who gathered around her after Jesus ascended into heaven.  The apostles learned from her as She manifested her devotion with ardent prayer at Pentecost.  She is our Mother too and she wishes to draw us close to her.  She wants us to pray the rosary ... it is a special means she uses to attach the soul to her and to help the soul to grow in holiness.  Everywhere she appears she exhorts her children to pray the rosary.  Pray the rosary during your retreat, and she will draw you closer to Her Son ~ that is her role.  “To Jesus, through Mary."  And she will shower you with an abundance of grace.

NIGERIA FI MISSION UPDATE!  THEY ARE NOW MOBILE!

Last year, Fr. Gabriel wrote of his great need for reliable transportation:
  • On Means of Transportation-The very urgent problem that is facing our apostolate at the moment is non-availability of a suitable means of transportation to the villages. The roads are rough and muddy, more so, with the rain, it becomes very difficult to travel on the road. The most adequate means of transportation to the villages is a strong and durable 4x4 Pickup.
We wish to thank Our Lady and generous benefactors who helped to make this possible.  As the friars need to travel to different mission churches, and also to help transport the poor for a variety of needs, the necessity of a good truck was a LONG time coming.  Patience....

"In your patience you shall possess your souls." - Luke 21:19

“Let nothing disturb you, Let nothing frighten you, All things are passing away: God never changes. Patience obtains all things. Whoever has God lacks nothing; God alone suffices” (St. Teresa of Avila).

The Family that Prays together, stays together - Ven. Patrick Peyton C.S.C.

On Sunday, 6/10/18, Family Rosary Center in Easton, MA held a splendid celebration in honor of Fr. Patrick Peyton who was declared "Venerable" by Holy Father Francis in December of 2017.  It was such a grace for us to be part of this special event.  We eagerly look forward to new miracles through the intercession of Venerable Patrick Peyton as he begins his path to beatification.    May God be praised through the intercession of The Blessed Virgin Mary.
Fr. Peyton was born In Ireland of very devout Catholic Parents.  Fr. Peyton's father, who led the family rosary every night,  allowed him to go to America at the age of 18 with his brother under one condition.  He said, "Go down on your knees and make me a promise here before the picture of the Sacred Heart. From now on there will be nobody but yourself to advise you and to decide for you. But your first responsibility will always be to save your soul, and so I want you to promise to be faithful to Our Lord in America."

When he came to America, his dream to become a priest was aroused in his soul but he didn't have the necessary education.  His brother also wanted to become a priest ~ and that's when Msgr. Kelly stepped in to help both of the boys achieve their calling.  They both were called to the Order of the Holy Cross and began their studies at Catholic University in Washington, DC.  Patrick contracted TB and was ailing for about a year at the Notre Dame infirmary.  It was at this time that Rev. Cornelius Hagerty, CSC told him to pray to Our Lady, with great faith.  Patrick prayed a rosary novena and at the completion of the novena, proclaimed that the was cured through Our Lady's intercession.  And he was!! and the doctors finally confirmed the miraculous healing.
Together, the boys were both ordained as priests of the Holy Cross on June 15, 1941.  To thank Our Lady for this great grace of the priesthood and of the healing, Fr. Peyton dedicated his life to spreading the practice of the family rosary.  He embarked on his missionary call and traveled around the world hosting Rosary Rallies.  He always preached about the rosary and drew people to a closer relationship with the Blessed Mother.  He preceded Bishop Sheen is harnessing the power of the media, producing over 600 TV and radio shows and mingled with celebrities.

MARIAN CONSECRATION

6/6/2018

Words from Jesus~taken from In Sinu Jesu ~ the journal of a priest at prayer.

Picture
"Consecrate yourself to My Mother, and lift your eyes to her all-pure countenance.  She is that star who I have set in the darkness of the firmament, lest those who belong to Me lose hope and perish in the tempest that threatens the very survival of all that I have done and of the works of My saints. Those who flee to My Immaculate Mother and cling to her mantle of protection will emerge from the sorrows of this time and, after the raging tempest, will rejoice in a peace that the world cannot give."  From In Sinu Jesu on April 14, 2016

"Entrust all things, great and small, to my Immaculate Mother.  She will provide for you even as she provided for John My beloved disciple, by drawing out of her Heart the graces reserved there for you and for her priest sons.  Live your consecration to My Mother in the practical details of your life.  Allow her to form you and instruct you.  You will begin to experience the peace and joy of the Holy Spirit in ways that you have never known before.  Where My Mother is welcomed and allowed to do her work, the Holy Spirit is poured out in the greatest abundance, and the graces and charisms of the Holy Spirit flourish for the up-building of the Church...  My Mother will be your Perpetual Help.  I have made her the Mediatrix of all My graces.  She is all-powerful over My Heart"- From In Sinu Jesu June 12, 2008

CORPUS CHRISTI AT ST. BRENDAN'S CHURCH  -  6/3/18

"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that those who believe in him may not perish, but may have life everlasting."  - John 3:14
It was a cool, sunny day for our Corpus Christi celebration at St. Brendan's - perfect weather for a procession.  This Solemnity is always so very special to us ~ as to all the Holy Angels, Saints and members of our Catholic family.  St. John Vianney used to weep as he adored the Holy Eucharist when he processed with the Monstrance on this feast day.  We thank God for His Real Presence among us~~His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament.  What a great gift is Faith!  How blessed it is to believe!  How Good is our God!

"What magnificence in the processions as they pass by! What reverence in the faithful as they kneel down! The Church shows to everyone her Bridegroom in the radiant monstrance. Ah! Who today will presume to say she is widowed? Her friends are in adoration and her enemies tremble. Jesus shows Himself to all men; He gives His blessing to the good; He looks on sinners with compassion; He calls them and draws them to Himself. The Council of Trent calls this feast the triumph of faith, and rightly so. It is also the triumph of the Church through her divine Bridegroom." - St. Peter Julian Eymard on the Feast of Corpus Christi
