        TO ADORE OUR LORD!

The Franciscan Handmaids of the Immaculate seek daily to draw closer to Our Lord.  Adoration of the Most Holy Sacrament is fundamental to Our spiritual life as we seek to conform our hearts unto His.  Additionally, praying the Liturgy of the Hours, the rosary, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Sorrows, we place ourselves in the Immaculate Heart of Mary, asking Her to bring us closer to Her Son.

This is the Story of Our Lady of Cap de Madeleine.

Along the banks of the St. Lawrence River in Canada, almost half way between Montreal and Quebec in the city of Trois Rivieres lies the Shrine of Our Lady of the Cape, also known as “Cap de La Madeleine Shrine”.    The Shrine houses a miraculous Statue of Our Lady of Grace and also tells the story of a miraculous bridge formed on the St. Lawrence River in the spring to bring stone over to build a bridge.

Christmas - 2013

CHRISTMAS is always a special time of year, the time when we remember that Christ is born for us, He has taken human flesh for us!  To save us!  Who can fathom this mystery?  Who is like unto God?  Who could devise such a solution to the problem of original sin?  From the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary:  "Marvelous is the mystery proclaimed today, human nature is made new as God becomes man; he remains what he was and becomes what he was not. Yet each nature stays distinct and becomes for ever undivided." St. Alphonsus wrote:  "He is born every day in the Sacrament by means of the priests and the words of consecration; the altar is the crib, and there we go to feed ourselves on his flesh. Someone might desire to have the Holy Infant in his arms, as the aged Simeon had; but faith teaches us that, when we receive Communion, the same Jesus who was in the manger of Bethlehem is not only in our arms, but in our breasts. He was born for this purpose, to give himself entirely to us: A child is born to us, a son is given to us."
