Cardinal Wysynszki was imprisoned by the communists in Poland in 1953 for his outspoken and staunch defense of the Catholic Church and the faithful during the time of the Communist persecution in Poland. While in prison, he exhorted the people to turn to Our Lady. In his notes he wrote, “Why do you prefer to wander in thought to those who tyrannize you rather than to me, who am your Immaculate Mother, your Refuge, your Consolation and Protector, or to my only Son Who redeemed you with His Blood, drawn from my Heart? Or to the Father of Mercy, who loved you so much that He gave my Son for you? Will your suffering be assuaged by thoughts of the wickedness of your enemies? Is not love, brought to earth by my Son and mediated by my service to you - the only medicine? Turn away from your thoughts and turn toward mine. Cast your worries into my arms. They bore the suffering of the Savior of the world; they will manage to bear your suffering. It is a waste to devote your thoughts to the wicked. Do NOT reverse the order of the world; God is your Savior - not the people." The Cardinal brought a new strategy to the war against Communism - “To overcome evil with Good." The Cardinal is now a Servant of God - hopefully on his way to canonization!

TO ADORE OUR LORD!
The Franciscan Handmaids of the Immaculate seek daily to draw closer to Our Lord. Adoration of the Most Holy Sacrament is fundamental to Our spiritual life as we seek to conform our hearts unto His. Additionally, praying the Liturgy of the Hours, the rosary, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Sorrows, we place ourselves in the Immaculate Heart of Mary, asking Her to bring us closer to Her Son.
