CATECHESIS OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD - CERTIFICATION PROCESS

TRAINING FOR MARIA MONTESSORI'S GOOD SHEPHERD PROGRAM has been challenging but exciting.  It is such a magnificent grace to help 3 - 6 year old children learn about and experience God and grow in their love for God.  Maria Montessori has a very different teaching method and, since we have been CCD teachers for many years, it has been a challenge for us to grasp her pedagogical discipline.  Her plan is for the catechist to use fewer words, a few biblical presentations and have the children personally work with the items in their atrium so as to gain knowledge and independence.  It supports a quiet atmosphere which serves to assist the children to advance in prayer and meditation.
